LANTZ CORNERS – Ground is expected to be broken soon for a heavy truck repair and towing business on Route 219 near Route 6 at Lantz Corners.
It will be the third location for Portville, N.Y. Truck and Auto Repair, which also has sites at its base in Portville near Olean and in Belmont, N.Y.
Plans call for the company to erect a 100x125-foot building on the site on Route 219 just north of Route 6 at Lantz Corners. An existing one-story house on the six-acre site will serve as the company office.
Chris Kloc, controller for Portville Truck and Auto Repair, said Monday that the company already has about 50 employees at its two locations. He told The Kane Republican that the company plans to add “three or four” more employees for its new location near Lantz Corners.
According to Kloc, the company maintains a small fleet of “heavy” tow trucks for hauling disabled vehicles. He said the company has been called for “heavy” towing jobs in the Kane area even before considering the move to the area.
Kloc said the company also handles “parts and service” for several major truck makers.
Chris Travis is owner of the company, which was created in 1984.
The McKean County Planning Commission has approved plans for the project. Kloc said the company is in the process of obtaining permits and hopes to be under construction “within a month” at its new location near Lantz Corners.
