LUDLOW -- The annual Memorial Day service will be held Monday at 11:15 a.m. at the Gibbs Hill Cemetery near Ludlow.
By Ted Lutz Republican Staff LUDLOW -- The annual Memorial Day service will be held Monday at 11:15 a.m. at the Gibbs Hill Cemetery near Ludlow. The Rev. John Nelson will be the guest speaker. Ken Holmes and Gene Lucia of American Legion Post 489 will lead the pledge of allegiance. Jonathan Bires will raise the flag. John Juban will give the roll call of departed veterans. Legion auxiliary members who died also will be honored. The Sheffield and Clarendon Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) wil provide the color guard and give the 21-gun salute. Buglers from the Sheffield High School Marching Band will sound taps. Georgi Rice will lead the group in the singing of "God Bless America," "The Battle Hymn of the Republic" and the "Star Spangled Banner." Bring lawn chairs for seating. In the event of inclement weather, the Memorial Day service will be moved to the Ludlow Fire Hall.
