Virgil W. Campbell
Virgil W. Campbell, 90, formerly of Brickyard Road in East Kane, died Wednesday afternoon, April 18, 2012 at The Lutheran Home at Kane, where he resided.
Born Jan. 7, 1922 in Kane, he was the son of William and Jessie Orcutt Campbell.Â In Feb. of 1946 in Mt. Jewett, he married Mary J. Johnson, who died in 1997.
Mr. Campbell served in the U.S. Marine Corps in the South Pacific during WWII.Â He was a quality control inspector for Dresser Manufacturing in Bradford, then owned and operated the Plaza Tastee Freeze in Kane.Â Later, he was custodian at the Kane Junior High School and then custodian supervisor for the Kane School District, retiring in 1984.
He belong to Kane Lodge #566, F&AM, where he was Past Master; and was a member of the Coudersport Consistory and the Zem Zem Shrine in Erie.
Surviving are two daughters, Mary Ann Anthony of Joppa, Md. and Jean E. Campbell of Harleysville; a son, William J. Campbell of Kane; two grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death, besides his wife and parents, by a son, Harold W. Campbell, a brother and three sisters.
Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. Friday at the Ronald McDonald II Funeral Home, Inc. in Kane, and may attend a serviceÂ at the funeral homeÂ at 11 a.m. on Saturday with the rev. David Pflieger, Chaplain of The Lutheran Home at Kane, officiating.Â A private graveside service will follow at Nebo Cemetery, Mt. Jewett.
Memorial contributions may be made to a church or charity of the donor's choice, with correspondence sent to the Campbell Family, P.O. Box 306, Kane, PAÂ 16735. A Masonic Service will be held at 7 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
