Wetmore Township plans for road, roof work

April 3, 2012

Several projects are planned for Wetmore Township in the coming months.
The township Board of Supervisors agreed Tuesday to seek bids for a paving project and for a new roof for the municipal building on Spring Street in East Kane.
The supervisors also discussed plans for "oil and chip" treatments on about four miles of township roads.
After a lengthy discussion, the supervisors agreed to seek bids for the paving of Grandview Road, Flickerwood Road and Old State Road.
The estimated cost for paving all three roads far exceeds the paving budget of $71,605. However, the supervisors still want to look at separate bids for all three roads before deciding which ones to accept-- or reject.
There is a chance the supervisors could pave all three roads this year-- if the price is right and additional funding is found.
The township already is expected to receive a "windfall" from the "impact fees" for Marcellus Shale natural gas wells. The township's share of the "impact fees" is estimated to exceed $31,000, according to figures obtained by the McKean County Board of Commissioners.
