Wolves’ soccer drops game to West Forest 4-1

October 8, 2012

Photo by Amy Geer – Kane's Kaleb Pierotti has had a solid season for the Wolves soccer team. The junior defender is shown controlling the ball against a player from West Forest during Monday's game. Pierotti and the Wolves will be back in action on Tuesday, when they take on St Marys in Kane.

The Kane Wolves boys’ soccer team came out of the gate quickly during Monday’s game against West Forest in Kane before dropping a 4-1 game.
Kane head coach Ernie Chamberlain’s young squad has yet to get a win this season and the Wolves’ offense tried to put the pressure on the Fires early.
The Wolves got the first shot on goal with a minute into the game but the Fires responded with a shot of their own on their next possession. Kane goalie Mike Butterfield made a nice save about seven minutes into the game with a lot of traffic in front of him. Butterfield stopped a West Forest breakaway attempt when he charged out to get a pass before the Fires’ forward could get to the ball.
Moments later, the Wolves had a four on three scoring opportunity. Kane’s Dillon Mattis was denied on a shot from the middle but the ball caromed out to the left wing where the Wolves’ Cody Blankenship controlled it. Blankenship lofted the ball over the Fires’ goalie and into the back corner of the net to give Kane the 1-0 lead with 28:32 left in the first half.
