Wolves down Wolverines 35-13 in season opener

The Todd Silfiesâ€™ chapter of the Kane Wolvesâ€™ football story began with a bang on Friday night as they battled to a 35-13 win over visiting Sheffield.

The Wolves jumped out to a 14-0 lead in the first quarter against the Sheffield Wolverines and saw the visitors cut the score to 14-7 midway through the third quarter.
The Kane players regrouped, however, and responded with 21 straight points before Sheffield scored a touchdown with no time on the clock to give Kane the 35-13 win.
Senior quarterback Sean Jordan connected with junior tight end Jeff Kocjancic for four touchdowns to lead the Wolves. Jonah Smith led the home team on the ground, coming through with some big yards down the stretch.
The Wolves won the toss and elected to receive the kickoff. Jordan completed a pass to Sean Rolick for a 20-yard gain to get the Kane fans into the game immediately. After gaining five yards on three downs, the Wolves went for it on fourth down. An 11-yard pass to Tyler Ennis moved the chains and kept the drive alive for Kane. After a false start on the Wolves, Smith broke free from a couple would-be tacklers for a 14-yard gain. Rolick ran for a first down on the next play, but the opening drive stalled at the Wolverinesâ€™ 20-yard line.
Sheffieldâ€™s Tyler Fitzgerald gained five yards on the first play for the visitors, but the Wolvesâ€™ defense and a penalty had Sheffield moving backwards. Sacks by Loren Kumher and Jamie Lingenfelter had Sheffieldâ€™s
