Wolves get upset by pesky Hubbers

The Kane Wolves varsity soccer team was back in action Tuesday afternoon at Kane High School against the Smethport Hubbers. The Wolves opened the season against the Hubbers in Smethport with a 2-1 double overtime win and after a big league victory on Thursday the Wolves hoped to continue their solid play in yet another important league game.
The first half had a lot of action with the Hubbers striking first. Just eight minutes in, a Smethport player was able to maneuver through the Kane defense and put the ball in the net. Kane had a lot of great scoring opportunities throughout the first half including a goal that was called back due to a player being offsides and another goal that was called back due to a handball. Kane would however find the equalizer on a strange goal scored by Ryan Peterson. The ball was kicked off the inside of the post and appeared to go straight across the goal line, but due to the back spin on the ball it crossed the line thus giving Kane the goal. Kane was unable to preserve the lead as Smethport scored with just four minutes remaining in the half. The halftime score was 2-1 in favor of Smethport.
