Work at Family Dollar store

Despite snow, rain and cold temperatures, construction work is under way for the new Family Dollar variety store at 519 N. Fraley St. in Kane. The site is adjacent to Rite Aid and in front of Kane Manufacturing (Kane Screens). Excavation for the foundation (above) is part of the latest work for the store, which is expected to open in March or April. The Kane store is one of more than 400 scheduled to open this year for the national chain based in Charlotte. The store, which is expected to employ between 10 and 12 workers, will have 8,000 square feet of space. Hanover Land Services, Inc. of Hanover, Pa. is the site surveyor and engineer for the project.
