Ted Lutz Ken VanGiesen of Kane is shown working as a mechanic beneath an Army truck while training at Camp Shelby, Miss. in 2005 for deployment in Iraq. VanGiesen, a 1999 graduate of Kane Area High School, was killed Monday while serving with the Pennsylvania Army National Guard in eastern Afghanistan.
