Zook Motors is planning to construct a new 48x96-foot building adjacent to its existing complex on Route 6 west of Kane.
According to information unveiled Tuesday at a meeting of the Wetmore Township Board of Supervisors, the new building will serve as a "detail shop" for the longtime business.
The supervisors endorsed the project, which now will go the McKean County Planning Commission for its approval.
In other business at the 73-minute meeting at the township building on Spring Street in East Kane, the supervisors:
*Rejected bids for the installation of a new roof on the entire township building.
The supervisors now plan to seek "phone quotes" for prices for a new roof for only the office wing of the building.
The supervisors budgeted $30,000 for a new roof, but the original bids exceeded this amount.
Gateway Estate Maintenance of Campbelltown Road near Hutchins submitted one bid of $33,400 and an optional second bid of $34,200.
Signet of Coudersport submitted one bid for $61,470 and a second proposal of $64,800.
The bids by the companies are far apart because the materials included in the proposals are vastly different.
*Agreed to utilize the services of the Jones Township Uniform Construction Code (UCC) Board of Appeals.
The UCC calls for municipalities to have a Board of Appeals. Rather than create its own, Wetmore has decided to tap the Jones Township UCC Appeals Board for services, when necessary.
*Agreed to create a Facebook account and a "simple" website on the internet.
