Finally, winter weather may prevail in Kane area

February 2, 2013

Photo by Ted Lutz – Snow flies Friday at the salt shed for the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) base on Route 6, just east of Kane. PennDOT trucks at the Kane station are used to plow and spread salt and anti-skid material on nearly 80 miles of Kane area roads. The base should be a busy place because snow is predicted to fall on area roads at least into the middle of next week.

Until now, it's been a roller coaster winter season in the Kane area.
For example, the area last month had a string of days with frigid sub-20-degree high temperatures, but little snow.
