Lady Wolves begin district playoffs tonight

February 19, 2013

File photo by Amy Geer – The Kane Lady Wolves are shown during a game against Curwensville from early January. Shown for the Lady Wolves are Taylor Morgan (20), Dawn Saquin (11) and Audrey Perry (12), with Kaila Jamerson under the hoop. The two teams will tangle again tonight in the first round of the District 9 AA playoffs, with the winner advancing to the semifinals. The players are hoping that a large Kane crowd will help in their effort to defeat the Golden Tide.

The Kane Lady Wolves’ basketball team will host the Curwensville Golden Tide tonight in a quarterfinal game of the District 9 AA playoffs. The 19-5 Lady Wolves are the top-seeded team out of the eight-team bracket. The eighth-seeded Tide enter the postseason with a 9-14 record but Kane coach Dave Kiehl probably won’t have to do much motivating to get his team to play hard. The Lady Wolves played Curwensville in their final game of the regular season, and escaped with a narrow 40-35 victory after trailing much of the game.
