A community that gives helps kids

February 28, 2013

Thanks to our community, 78 students in third, fourth, and fifth grade at Chestnut Street Elementary raised $5,272 for the children at St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital by participating in the St. Jude’s Math-a-thon. In a two-week period, students get sponsors, go online or complete a booklet with over 200 math problems, and collect money from their sponsors. They can earn prizes for the amount of money collected: $35 raised gets a certificate and T-shirt; those who raise $75 get an additional gym bag; anyone who raises over $125 gets to pick from a variety of other prizes such as radios, MP3 speakers, dart boards. Pictured are the third-, fourth-, and fifth-graders who participated in this year’s Math-a-thon.
