Kane school children in kindergarten through fifth grade were able to select their own books to read and keep Friday during a "Read Across America" program at the Kane Elementary School. These second-grade students include, left to right, front row: Angel Banks, Karli Gustafson and Skylar Cook; and standing: Dale Morris, Ricky Zampogna and Branden Bentley. The National Education Association (NEA) promotes the "Read Across America" program each year on the birthday of "Dr. Seuss," the famous author of children's books. Today marks the 109th birthday of "Dr. Seuss."
