Harry Franklin Myers

March 7, 2013

Harry Franklin Myers, age 80, died March 5, 2013 after a brief illness.
He is survived by his wife, Cindy Myers; two sons, Donald Myers and wife Denise of New Jersey, and Daniel Myers and wife Heidi of Minnesota; a stepdaughter, Lori Hill of Ohio; and eight granddaughters, Kelly, Samantha, Kayla, Christina, Stephanie, Nicole, Courtney and Hannah.
Harry was born in Bradford and was always proud to claim the “Home of the Zippo Lighter” as his birth place. He served in the Army Air Corps from 1950 to 1952, and was quick to tell anyone who asked that he was the crew chief on the “helicopter made famous on the TV show, M*A*S*H”!
After retiring from a 35-year career as a manager of Beneficial Finance Company in 1988, he and Cindy moved from Kane to New Braunfels, Texas, where they lived for 22 years. In 2009, they returned home to Pennsylvania and settled in New Castle.
Music and humor were very important parts of his life, singing with various barbershop quartets and choruses in Kane and New Braunfels, onstage in different theater performances in New Braunfels and always involved in church choirs and activities wherever he lived. He was a former active member in the Lions and Rotary service clubs
Harry was an active member of The United Methodist Church; his current membership was at Savannah United Methodist Church in New Castle. A memorial service will be held Friday, March 8 at 11 a.m. at Savannah United Methodist Church with Pastor Laura Puleo officiating. Arrangements were entrusted to the Noga Funeral Home Inc., 1142 S. Mill Street New Castle. Online condolences may be viewed or offered at nogafuneralhome.com.
