“During the time when I was playing for him, Pat was working at Stackpole, plus he had a second job in addition to officiating high school basketball games, and he was a single parent,” John Knapp says. “His dedication to the kids and to the game still amazes me. He was very much a man of the World War II generation, the ‘greatest generation’ some call it. Men like my dad, Bill Knapp, and Norm Wile, Jim Perry, Jack Flower and Bill Wilson were positive influences to us as young kids. Between coaching at the Y and at Glenwood, Jack Flower was an enduring influence to generations of youngsters.”
