Erie firefighters report the death of a woman on March 13 when a fire destroyed her home.
She was born on May 18, 1933 in Kane and is identified as Noreen Coleman Swift of the Summit area, daughter of the late Martin Coleman and the late Pauline Coleman of Kane.
Mrs. Swift attended Kane Schools and graduated from Kane High School and the St. Vincent School of Nursing.
She was the mother of seven children, eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Noreen worked for many years as an RN in the Labor and Delivery units of both St. Vincent Health Center Hospital and Spencer Hospital at Meadville.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Swift; a sister, Ruth Bonacci; and a brother, James "Butch" Coleman.
Survivors include her seven children, her grandchildren and a great-grandchild; a brother, Richard Coleman of Kane; and her loving companion, James Horne.
Noreen loved family gatherings, swimming, bowling and the Silver Sneakers program for exercise at the Y.
She sang for many years in the choir of St. Julia's Catholic Church in Erie.
The Burton Westlake Funeral Home was in charge of funeral arrangements.
Burial took place in Erie Cemetery.
