Viola M. Swedenhjelm

Viola M. Swedenhjelm, 73, of 33 Tionesta Ave., Kane, died Wednesday afternoon, May 8, 2013 at the Kane Community Hospital.
Born Jan. 8, 1940 in Kane, she was the daughter of Harry B. and Helen A. Herron Umpleby. On Aug. 8, 1959 in Kane, she married Lawrence A. Swedenhjelm, who survives.
A member of the First United Methodist Church, Viola worked at Stackpole for many years until its closure, then was a dietary aide at the Residential Care Center, and lastly, at The Lutheran Home at Kane, retiring in 2007.
Surviving, in addition to her husband, are two daughters, Lavonne Gillespie and Lynn (Robert) Kinney, both of Kane; a son, Randy (Quentin) Swedenhjelm of Kane; six grandchildren, Jessica Erb, Travis Gillespie, Christofer and James Swedenhjelm, and Cruise and Chance Kinney; and a great grandson, Aiden Gillespie. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
She was preceded in death, besides her parents, by brothers Frederick and Elton Umpleby.
Friends may call from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 11 at the Ronald McDonald II Funeral Home, Inc., a which time a service will be held there with the rev. W. Craig Smith, pastor of the Mt. Jewett - Hazel Hurst United Methodist Churches, officiating.  Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Kane.
