Edward D. "Eddie Pete" Peterson

Edward D. "Eddie Pete" Peterson, 77, of 908 Welsh St., Kane, died unexpectedly Wednesday afternoon, June 12, 2013 in the E.R. of the Kane Community Hospital after being stricken at home.
Born Feb. 3, 1936 in Kane, he was the son of Edward S. and Cora P. Detwiler Peterson. On April 25, 1969 in Johnsonburg, he married Ann J. Mays, who survives.
Mr. Peterson was an operator for Pennsylvania American Water Co. for over 25 years, and was a union steward for the company.
He was a member of the Kane Volunteer Fire Department for 59 years, belonged to the VFW Post #1132 in Kane and the Ludlow Sportsman's Club. He was chairman of the Kane Zoning Board and played trumpet in the Gray Knights Drum & Bugle Corps. He had attended the First United Methodist Church in Kane.
Surviving are three sons, Richard (Missy) Peterson of Kane, Todd Peterson of East Kane and Gary (Deb) Rose of Bradford; three daughters, Tammy (Bill) Swanson of Kane, Julia (Ted) Williams of Melbourne, Fla. and Tina (Anthony) Gentile of Kane; a brother, William Peterson of Kane; and a sister, Judith Phillips of North Carolina; plus grandchildren Ryan and Sarri Swanson, Steven Osmer, Justin and Nathan Peterson, Lauren and Dessa Gentile, Owen Peterson and Kevin and Douglas Rose; a great-granddaughter; and a special friend, Porter Gilligan.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Ronald McDonald II Funeral Home, Inc. in Kane, and may attend a service at the funeral home at 11 a.m. on Saturday with the rev. W. Craig Smith, pastors of the Mt. Jewett and Hazel Hurst United Methodist Churches, officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Tabor Cemetery, Kane with a fire dept. escort.
