Francis H. Grolemund, Sr

Francis H. Grolemund, Sr., 87, of Erie, passed away peacefully Thursday, July 4, 2013 at the Pennsylvania Soldiers and Sailors Home.
He was born in Oil City, PA on December 16, 1925, a son of the late Francis A. and Eva M. (Fitzpatrick) Grolemund.
Francis served in the U. S. Navy during World War II in the South Pacific. He was employed at the Erie General Electric as a welder and retired as an inspector in 1986. An avid hunter and fisherman and loving known as “Sea Daddy”, Francis traveled to many places to hunt and fish including Canada and throughout the United States. He was a founding member of Holy Family Church, a member of the Edinboro – McKean V.F.W. Post 740 and a former member of the Siebenbuerger Club. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.
He was preceded in death by his son, Daniel J. Grolemund; a son-in-law, Rem Sorg; a brother, James Grolemund; two half-sisters, Agnes Wilkinson and Violet McClave.
He is survived by his wife, Louise A. (Delinski) Grolemund, whom he married on April 3, 1948; six children, Francis H. Grolemund and his wife, Carol of Sandy Lake, Mary Louise Sorg of Ashtabula, Ohio, Matthew J. Grolemund of Harborcreek, Christine Holmgren of Erie, Luke A. Grolemund and his wife, Darlene of Harborcreek and Joanne Perry and her husband, Steve of Kane; 19 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Friends may call at the Brugger Funeral Homes & Crematory, LLP. Pine Ave. Branch, 845 East 38th St., on Sunday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 PM and are invited to attend a prayer service at the funeral home on Monday at 9:15 AM followed by a funeral mass at Holy Family Church at 10:00 AM.
