Mrs. Jody Rea Paup Hogan

Mrs. Jody Rea Paup Hogan, 47, of Meherrin, Va. died Saturday July 20, 2013.
Jody was born Aug. 18, 1965 in Kane, daughter of Thora (Lynne) and James (Jim) Paup.
Jody was a 1987 graduate of Longwood College with a Bachelor’s degree in Biology. She was a member of Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church. Jody worked at Southside Community Hospital for many years before pursuing a career in teaching. She was a teacher at Prince Edward County Middle School, Fuqua, Nottaway and most recently, Lunenburg County High School.
Jody enjoyed riding and being a member of the Cruiser Bike Club and being a Thirty-One consultant. She was proud of her involvement with the youth programs; PEFYA, Lunenburg and Virginia Select leagues.
Jody was a loving wife to John Hood Hogan and devoted mother of three wonderful children, Brandy, Michael, and Aaron Hogan. Jody is survived by her parents Lynne and Jim Paup of Florida; four sisters, Polly Park and husband John, Jamie Huntsman, Kelly and husband Paul, all of Tennessee, Sherry Shappard and husband Randy of Florida; along with many nieces and nephews; and one great-niece.
Jody was preceded in death by her grandparents Thora and Edward Lehman, and Harry and Ruth Paup.
There was a private service Monday, July 22 at 11 a.m. at the Farmville United Methodist Church and public visitation followed from 1-3 p.m. with Reverend Paul Baker officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Prince Edward Farmville Youth Association or Prince Edward Vol. Rescue Squad.
Shorter Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
