Chester E. Slaugenhaupt

Chester E. Slaugenhaupt, 70, a resident of Sena-Kean Manor and formerly of Mt. Jewett, passed away Sunday, July 21, 2013 at UPMC Bradford.
Born Sept. 14, 1942, in Eldred, he was a son of the late Charles and Mildred Pelham Slaugenhaupt. On July 17, 1971, in Mt. Jewett, he married Sylvia Roberts who survives.
Mr. Slaugenhaupt worked as a truck driver and also as a driver for Burdick's Garbage Disposal.
He was a member of the Hazel Hurst United Methodist Church, the Hamlin Township Fire Department and the Mt. Jewett Senior Center.
He enjoyed fishing, mowing everyone's lawn, visiting his neighbors and, as he put it, "bugging the old folks at the home."
Surviving in addition to his wife, Sylvia Slaugenhaupt, are three sisters, Carol Compton and Betty Shaw of Kane, and Donna (Dan) Causer of Eldred.
Preceding him in death, besides his parents, were four brothers, Robert Slaugenhaupt, Charles Slaugenhaupt Jr., Richard Slaugenhaupt and Joseph Slaugenhaupt.
The family will be receiving friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Cummings Funeral Home, Inc. in Mt. Jewett where a memorial service will follow at 1 p.m. with the Rev. W. Craig Smith, pastor of the Mt. Jewett/Hazel Hurst United Methodist Churches, officiating. Burial will take place at Bridgeview Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to the Bridgeview Cemetery Association.
