Paul A. Venteicher

Paul A. Venteicher, 82, of Edgewood, Iowa, died on Tuesday, Aug. 27, 2013, at the Edgewood Convalescent Home.
He was born on May 21, 1931, in Tilden, Neb., the son of Anton and Margaret (Bohnenkamp) Venteicher. In 1941, when he was 10 years old, his family moved to a farm north of Manchester, where they lived until 1948 when they moved to a farm west of Edgewood.
On Sept. 10, 1951, Paul was united in marriage to Norma Jean Klostermann at St. Boniface Church in New Vienna. Together they farmed for 57 years. In 2008, they moved to Edgewood.
Paul was a longtime member of St. Mark’s Parish. He was a 4-H leader for Northwest Leaders, was an FFA supporter, a charter member of Knights of Columbus, Dairy Council President for Delaware County, Distinguished Dairy Family for Delaware County in 1992, and was a board president for Silver Edge Co-op. He enjoyed singing in the church choir of which he was a member for 40 years, and liked polka music, and John Deere tractors. Paul loved his family, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and his lifetime occupation of farming.
Survivors include his wife, Norma, of Edgewood; two sons, David (Ann) of Strawberry Point and Richard (Donna) of Edgewood; five daughters, Dorothy (Clark) Palmer and Janice (Ken) Boesenberg, both of Manchester, Karen (Lynn) Brunsman of Dundee, Rose Mary (Bill) Hunt of Earlville, and Joyce (Mike) Anderson of Kane; 15 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Wilma Holtz of Edgewood and Vera Fischels of Raymond; two sisters-in-law, Delores Neuhaus and Marian Klostermann of New Vienna; one brother-in-law, Gerald (Janet) Klostermann of Tripoli; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents, Anton and Margaret Venteicher; one son, Mark; a son-in-law, Gregg Engelken; his sister, Anita Eike; and four brothers-in-law, Clarence Eike, Francis Holtz, LaVerne Fischels, and Bernard Neuhaus.
Leonard-Muller Funeral Home in Edgewood is assisting the family with arrangements.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 31, 2013, at St. Mark’s Catholic Church in Edgewood. Celebrant will be Rev. Stephen Lundgren
Visitation will be Friday, Aug. 30, 2013 from 2-8 p.m. at Leonard-Muller Funeral Home in Edgewood, Iowa, with a 2 p.m. Rosary, and from 8:30-10 a.m. on Saturday at the Funeral Home.
Interment will be in St. Mark’s Catholic Cemetery – Edgewood, Iowa.
Casket bearers are grandsons Eric Palmer, Adam Palmer, Matt Venteicher, Dan Venteicher, Don Venteicher, Jeff Bushaw, Jeritt Bushaw, Nick Brunsman, Mitch Hunt, Phillip Engelken, and Kyle Engelken.
Music will be performed by Darrell Lendt and Kathy Greve.
