George L. McCloskey

George L. McCloskey, 83, of 159 W. Main St., Mt. Jewett, passed away early Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2013 at Sena-Kean Manor.
Born April 16, 1930, in Snow Shoe, he was a son of the late Lester and Olive McCracken McCloskey. On Oct. 3, 1952, in Hazel Hurst, he married Marilyn Smith who preceded him in death. For most of his life, Mr. McCloskey was a logger and retired from Penn Mountain Logging in 2005 at the age of 75. His favorite pastime was repairing small engines.
Survivors include his daughter, Debbie Speedy of Mt. Jewett; his son, George McCloskey Jr. of Mt. Jewett; a brother, Ed McCloskey; three grandsons, Tom Lipps, Joe Lipps and Steven Speedy; a granddaughter, Pam McFall; eight great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Ian "Skippy" McCloskey; and a sister, Peggy Hunter.
Friends and family may attend a funeral 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 6, 2013 at the Cummings Funeral Home, Inc. in Mt. Jewett, with the Rev. W. Craig Smith, Methodist pastor, officiating. Burial will be at Nebo Cemetery.
