Ronald J. Francis

Ronald J. Francis, 75, of 81 East Main St., Mt. Jewett, and also 985 Valencia Estates, Lakeland, Fla, died Saturday evening, Sept. 28, 2013 at the Kane Community Hospital.
He was born in Erie on Jan. 18, 1938, the son of the late Clarence and Ann (Zelinski) Francis. He graduated from Academy High School in Erie in 1956 and was employed at Hammermill International Paper for 42 1/2 years. He also had owned and operated the Instant Heartburn Sausage Trailer for many years.
On July 4, 1986 he married Shirley Swanson Barnes, who survives. They enjoyed traveling, driving to Alaska and all of the lower 48 states. He was a member of St. Matthews Lutheran Church in Mt. Jewett and St. John's Lutheran Church in Erie.
Surviving relatives include one son; Ronald Francis of Erie; one daugher, Barbara Cunningham of Niceville, Fla.; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one brother, Norman Francis of Erie; three stepchildren, Pamela Stahli and Victoria Parrish, both of Mt. Jewett, and Michael Barnes and his girlfriend Jane Griffin of Palmer, Alaska; six step-grandchildren; eight step-great-grandchildren; and one step-great-great-granddaughter.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one brother, Raymond Francis.
Friends may call at the Cummings Funeral Home in Mt. Jewett on Wednesday, Oct. 2 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, Oct. 3 in Nebo Chapel at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Dr. Darrel Justh, officiating. Interment will be in Nebo Cemetery.
