Helen Marie Rietter Lynde, 67, of Erie and formerly of Kane, died Oct. 2, 2013 and went to join her parents, son and brother.
Helen was born in Kane on Sept. 8, 1946 daughter of the late Francis and Edith Carlson Rietter.
She graduated from Kane Area High School in 1964, where she sang in the Kane Choralliers and also was a cheerleader.
Helen worked at the Hamlin Bank in Kane and married Tom Lynde who was in the U.S. Coast Guard in July 1967.Â In 1968 they moved to Norfolk, Va., where Helen worked at Virginia National Bank until 1970 when they moved to Erie.Â
She worked at Union Bank, Keystone Electric Co., and the Society of Holy Trinity Club.
Helen was a member of the First Methodist Church of Kane, where she sang in the choir.Â She was a member of the Society of Holy Trinity Club, and their Ladies Auxiliary and the CYS Club.Â Helen loved spending time with her family, especially her children and grandsons.Â She loved going to camp, bird and animal watching and doing crossword puzzles.Â She also loved visiting family and friends in Florida, California and Georgia and going to Las Vegas.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Tommy Lynde; and a brother, David Rietter.
Helen is survived by her loving husband Tom; sons Jason Lynde (Heather Jones) and Eric LyndeÂ and his wife Laura (Simonelli), as well as grandsons Thomas and Christopher, and their mother Trisha Lynde, all of Erie.Â Also surviving are brothers William Rietter and dear friend Marie, and George Rietter and wife Donna of Kane, Karl Rietter and wife Anita of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; sisters Mary Feidler and husband Ron of Frewsburg, N.Y., Betty Straneva and husband Rudy of Kane, and Ruth LaBue and husband Loreta of Port St. Lucie, Fla., and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews and loving in-laws.
Friends may call at the Carl A. Slomski & Son Funeral Home Inc., 2101 Ash St., Sunday, Oct. 6 from 4-8 p.m. and may attend a service there Monday at 11 a.m.
Burial will be private.
Memorials may be made to the Regional Cancer Center or to the Kanzius Cancer Research Fund.
