Harriet L. Rose

Harriet L. Rose, 88, of 229 Holman St., Kane, died Saturday evening, Oct. 26, 2013 at UPMC Hamot in Erie after a brief illness.
Born Jan. 6, 1925 in Jamestown, N.Y., she was the daughter of Harry R. and Helga Nelson Larson. On Aug. 23, 1947 in Rasselas, she married John W. Rose, who died in 1999.
Harriet grew up in Wilcox and graduated from Wilcox High School. After working for a year at the Kane Shirt Factory, she entered and graduated from the Presbyterian Hospital School of Nursing in Pittsburgh, where she was a member of the Cadet Nurse Corps.
She worked at the Kane Community Hospital, Kane Summit Hospital, and, for a short time, was the school nurse at Wilcox School.
A member of The Presbyterian Church in Kane, she also belonged to the Kane Registered Nurses Club, was a volunteer at Friends’ Memorial Public Library and a member of the Library Auxiliary. 
Surviving are five sons, John "Jack" (Suzanne) Rose of Omaha, Neb., William Rose, Thomas (Barb) Rose, Steven Rose and Paul (Mary Catalone) Rose, all of Kane; two daughters, Nancy (Dan) Meara of Conneaut, Ohio and Janet (Don) Warren of Mt. Jewett; three sisters, Romayne Dill of Naples, Fla., Janice Larson of Asheville, N.C. and Lorraine Hendrickson of Ridgway. Four grandchildren, one great-granddaughter, and several nieces and nephews also survive.
She was preceded in death, besides her husband and parents, by a son, Charles Rose, and a daughter, Lisa Rose.
Friends may call at the Ronald McDonald II Funeral Home, Inc. in Kane from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and from noon until 1 p.m. Wednesday, at which time a service will be held there with the rev. Rebecca Taylor, pastor of The Presbyterian Church, officiating. Interment will follow in St. Callistus Cemetery, Kane.
