M. Joyce Maljovec

M. Joyce Maljovec, 84, of 401 W. Hemlock Ave., Kane, died Friday, Nov. 1, 2013 at the Cleveland Clinic.
Born March 26, 1929, in Kane, she was a daughter of the late Leo and Marguerite West McKenna. On Nov. 25, 1950, at St. Callistus Church in Kane, she married Joseph J. Maljovec Sr. who survives.
Mrs. Maljovec was a member of St. Callistus Catholic Church. In 2006, she received the papal honor of Ladies of Pope St. Sylvester for her dedication and service to the Catholic Church. Before retirement, Joyce had worked as a registered nurse at Kane Community Hospital.
Surviving, in addition to her husband, Joe, are three daughters, Linda Maljovec of Mentor, Ohio, Kathy Ann (Patrick) Dugan of Allison Park and Sue (Michael) Dallessandro of Midland, Mich.; a son, Dr. John (Patti) Maljovec Jr. of Warren; eight grandsons, Christopher Maljovec, Ben Maljovec, Tom Maljovec, Dan Maljovec, Matt Dugan, Jeff Dugan, Joseph Dallesandro, John Dallessandro; one granddaughter, Maura Dugan; and five great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death, besides her parents, was a son, Michael James Maljovec who died in 1959; a brother, Robert McKenna; and two sisters, Rose Tate and Marguerite Trubic.
Friends will be received Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Cummings Funeral Home, Inc. where a prayer service will be held at 8:30 p.m. A Mass of  Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Callistus Catholic Church with the Rev. Philip Pinczewski, pastor, officiating.  Entombment will be at St. Callistus Mausoleum.
