Bear season starts off slow at Mt. Jewett check station

The Bradford hunter bagged the bruin outside of Bradford early Saturday morning. As of mid afternoon Saturday, less than a dozen bears had been checked in.

MT. JEWETT – Activity at the bear check station at the Mt. Jewett Fire Hall in McKean County was slow on Saturday afternoon, with only a dozen bears being brought to the site through 3 p.m. to kick off the opening day of the statewide firearms bear season. In addition to Saturday, the four-day season continues today through Wednesday.
