Adventures of a wildlife photographer

December 23, 2013

Photo by Rocky Holland – A Red-Bellied Woodpecker visits my “log” feeder as I photograph him from the warmth of my house.

I am writing this on a very cold, blustery day just before Thanksgiving. I was out early this very morning in a rather calm, partly sunny beginning of the day. By mid-afternoon the wind picked up and snow squalls had begun to increase across the area. What’s new about this, I calmly asked myself, as I fought the gusts of wind while filling my bird feeders. This is typical northwestern Pennsylvania weather in late November. One minute a snowstorm, the next, a sunny end to the day.
