Donald E. Cooley

Donald E. Cooley, 76, of 215 Park Ave., Kane, died Sunday afternoon, Dec. 29, 2013 at Sena Kean Manor in Smethport where he resided since last Friday.
A lifelong resident of Kane, he was born Jan. 24, 1937 in Kane, son of John J. and Frances M. Smith Cooley. 
He served in the U.S. Army for four years during the Vietnam War, then transferred to the Army Reserves. Mr. Cooley then worked for the Hanley Brick Company in Lewis Run for many years. He was an avid hunter with his beagle, Patty, alongside.
Surviving are two brothers, John T. Cooley of McLean, Va. and Paul E. (Kathy) Cooley of Eldred; his longtime companion Emma Jean Carlson, with whom he lived; plus several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Preceding him in death, besides his parents, are sisters Doris Payne, Sue Stakley, Hazel Fetterman and Elizabeth Jean Olson; and three brothers, Charles, Richard and Edward Cooley.
A graveside service will be held at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Kane next spring.
