Evelyn M. "Susie" Lantz, 87, formerly of West Kane and Oberg Avenue in Mt. Jewett, died early Wednesday morning, Jan. 1, 2014 at the Lutheran Home at Kane, where she was a resident.
Born July 10, 1926 in Kane, she was the daughter of Ira Raymond and Alma W. Anderson Sloan. On Oct. 18, 1952 in West Kane, she married Carl E. Lantz, who died Feb. 1, 2012.
Susie was a beautician for over 50 years with her shop in her home, and owned and operated the Kane Motel with her husband for several years.
She was a member of the Mt. Jewett United Methodist Church, as well as the Philomathean Club, the Kane Garden Club, the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and the Red Hat Society. She also enjoyed volunteering at the Mt. Jewett Memorial Library.
Surviving are her daughter, Karly (Scott B.) Peterson of Mt. Jewett; her granddaughter, Brittany Peterson of Mt. Jewett; and her sister, June Nichols of Kane, plus two nieces and a nephew.
Preceding her in death, in addition to her husband and parents, are two grandsons in infancy.
Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 4 at the Ronald McDonald II Funeral Home, Inc. in Kane, where a service will be held at 1 p.m. with the rev. W. Craig Smith, pastor of the Mt. Jewett - Hazel Hurst United Methodist Churches, officiating. Interment will follow in Nebo Cemetery, Mt. Jewett.
