Johnsonburg Rams roll over Kane Wolves

January 4, 2014

Photo by Amy Geer – Tyler Weidenhoff is pictured going up strong to the hoop late in Friday's game with Johnsonburg. The Wolves' sophomore is giving Kane coach Matt Gasbarre some valuable minutes off the bench in varsity and helped to lead Kane's junior varsity to a narrow win over the Rams.

Last year’s PIAA runner-up Johnsonburg showed Friday night’s crowd in the Wolves Den that the 2014 version is a darn good team. The Rams ran out to a big lead early and rolled to a 69-30 win.
Playing in front of a large crowd that braved temperatures hovering around zero, Johnsonburg coach Bill Shuey’s Rams got on the scoreboard first when Zane Hodgdon put back an offensive rebound 15 seconds into the contest. Johnsonburg’s Cole Peterson hit a turnaround jumper in the paint with just over five minutes left in the first as both teams struggled to get the ball in the hoop early. Peterson scored again moments later on a dish down low from Cameron Grumley before Jack Kocjancic got the hosts on the board with a short baseline jumper.
