Youth bowling coach is Kane's 'citizen-of-the-year'

Photo by Ted Lutz – John "Orson" Carlson has been selected by the Kane Chamber of Commerce as the "citizen-of-the-year." He will be honored Thursday at the annual Chamber banquet at the Kane Fire Hall. For ticket information, call the Chamber at 837-6565.

Over the past 30 years, John "Orson" Carlson has coached hundreds of young bowlers as the volunteer director of the youth bowling program at the Kane Elks Lodge.
"I get a lot of enjoyment," Carlson said in explaining why he continues to spend every Saturday at the Elks bowling alley over the 17-week youth bowling program.
