Coming together for "One Book"

April 29, 2014

The McKean County Family Centers and community leaders have come together to celebrate Pennsylvania “One Book, Every Young Child” program during the month of April. This is the ninth year of this literacy program that highlights the value of reading early and often to children. Reading aloud to children is an important factor in literacy development and one of the best activities you can do to prepare a child for school. This years featured book is, “Stripes of All Types” written and illustrated by Susan Stockdale. Heather Morrison, representing the Kane Area School District, visited the Kane Family Center on April 25 to read this year’s featured story with children attending Parent–Child Playgroup at the Family Center. Each family attending was given the book “Stripes of All Types” to read and enjoy together at home.
