Eagle Scout

Riley Austin, a senior at Kane Area High School, received the Eagle Scout Award at a Court of Honor Ceremony held Sunday, April 13, 2014 at Olmsted Manor in Ludlow. Eagle Scout is the highest rank that can be achieved by a Boy Scout. Riley is a member of the Allegheny Highlands Council Troop 422, chartered by the First United Methodist Church, led by Scoutmaster Jon Blackmore, Assistant Scoutmaster John Rezzelle, Bob Ishman and Bill Thompson. In his Troop, he held the leadership positions of Assistant Patrol Leader and Patrol Leader, and has earned 30 Merit Badges. With help from his Scout Leaders, Troop members and community volunteers, he completed a walking trail at the East Kane Park in Wetmore Township for his service project. Riley is the son of Scott and Bev Austin of Kane, and has a sister, Shelby.
