Local runners compete in half-marathon

On Sunday, May 4, approximately 30,000 runners took off from the corner of Liberty Avenue and Seventh Street in downtown Pittsburgh marking the start of the 2014 Pittsburgh Marathon and Half-Marathon. Runners came from 20 countries and 49 states to participate in the event. Dave Swanson of Kane and Will Keesler of Mt. Jewett were two of the 14,589 participants in the half-marathon covering a distance of 13.1 miles. Will finished the race in 1:57:38 and Dave came across the finish line in 2:19:07. Both Will and Dave are members of the Elk County Striders and run together on a regular basis. Quoting Whirl Magazine, “You know what they say about half marathon runners: They’re only half crazy.” Shown with their finishing medals are Dave Swanson and Will Keesler.
