Mt. Jewett veteran, 87,  finally sees World War II Memorial

Photo by Ted Lutz – Don Warren Sr., who served in the U.S. Navy in World War II, is visiting Washington, D.C. for the first time this weekend as a member of the “Honor Flight” from the Pittsburgh International Airport. Warren, now 87, saw action in the Pacific as a member of a gun crew on the USS Bingham.

MT. JEWETT – Don Warren Sr. of Mt. Jewett still has vivid memories of Japanese Kamikaze attacks on U.S. Navy ships in the Pacific Ocean during World War II.
He was serving aboard the USS Bingham troop transport ship that was taking soldiers to Okinawa for the invasion in 1945.
