Marjorie B. Newton

Marjorie B. Newton, 92, formerly of Mt. Jewett, died Wednesday, May 21, 2014 at Bradford Manor.
Born June 19, 1921, in Summerville, she was a daughter of  the late Edward and Olive White Sherman.
On May 17, 1941, in Knapp Creek, N.Y., she married  Henry Newton who preceded her in death in 2002.
Mrs. Newton had been employed as a seamstress.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Mt. Jewett, the Oilers P39 Camping Club and the Seneca Highlands Trailer Club.
Surviving are two sons, William Newton of Decatur, Ala. and Raymond Newton of Arcade, N.Y.; two daughters, Sandra Norton of Ormond Beach, Fla. and Virginia White of Salisbury, N.C.; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death, besides her husband and parents, by two brothers, Curtis L. Sherman and Edward R. Sherman; and three sisters, F. Laurella Neatherlin, Lauraine McMillen and Mary E. Rupert.  
Funeral services for Marjorie B. Newton will be held at the United Methodist Church on Tuesday, May 27 at 1 p.m. with the Rev. W. Craig Smith, pastor, officiating. Burial will be at Bridgeville Cemetery.
Friends will be received at the Cummings Funeral Home, Inc. in Mt. Jewett Tuesday from 12 p.m. to 12:45 p.m.
