Commissioners OK Chase Street property sale to KARE

Photo by Amy Geer – The McKean County Commissioners approved the sale of this property, located at 316 Chase Street, to the Kane Area Revitalization Enterprise for $250. The building was damaged in a 2005 fire. According to KARE Executive Director Erin Vassallo, the organization plans to demolish what is left of the building and sell the property.

SMETHPORT – The McKean County Commissioners approved the acceptance of an offer from the Kane Area Revitalization Enterprise to purchase the property at 316 Chase ST. for $250 from the McKean County repository. The property formerly was an addition to Papa Nick's restaurant and prior to that was the site of the Knights of Columbus.
According to Chairman Joseph DeMott Jr., the sale has already been approved by the Kane Borough Council and the Kane Area School District. The building, which was severely damaged in a 2005 fire, will be demolished and the property then offered for sale, according to KARE Executive Director Erin Vassallo.
