Mt. Jewett council rejects bids for paving work

August 4, 2014

MT. JEWETT – The paving of Poplar Street in Mt. Jewett apparently won't take place this year.
Acting Monday, the Mt. Jewett Borough Council voted 6-0 to reject paving bids, which came in at more than twice the estimate provided by the state.
Shawn Agosti, who handles estimates for the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT), pegged the Poplar Street paving job at $32,058.
The low bid from Glenn Hawbaker of State College was $71,875. IA Construction of Franklin submitted a bid of $93,343.
