MT. JEWETT â€“ The 44th Swedish Festival opens Friday in Mt. Jewett.
The three-day festival, which is one of the longest running summer events in the region, attracts thousands to the close-knit Mt. Jewett community for food, entertainment and special activities.
Where else can you enjoy a Swedish smorgasbord, a Swedish Meatball Contest and watch Viking Ship races?
"We're all excited about our community-oriented festival," Beth Carpenter said. "It brings us all together. We look forward to seeing the Mt. Jewett natives who come home for the festival."
After taking a year off to serve as parade marshal in 2013, Carpenter is back as the chairman of the volunteer festival committee.
