Richard P. "Rich" Bartels

Richard P. "Rich" Bartels, 76, of 614 North Fraley St., Kane, formerly of School Street in East Kane, died Monday afternoon, Aug. 11, 2014 at The Lutheran Home at Kane.
Born Dec. 10, 1937 in Dravosburg, he was the son of Paul A. and Bernice M. Forsythe Bartels. On March 18, 1960 in Fort Payne, Ala., he married Jean A. Lamb, who survives.
Rich was a road supervisor for Hamilton Township for several years, and later was, among other things, a mechanic for Wetmore Township for 14 years, both near Kane.
He was a member of the Ludlow Sportsman's Club, was an avid hunter and fisherman, and enjoyed photography.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are a daughter, Brigitt Marie Markert of Rassellas; a son, Randy P. (Jen) Bartels of Americus, Ga.; a sister, Karen Cartier of Shanksville; four grandchildren, Nathan Koza, Devan Bartels, Stefanie Cross and Bruce "Charlie" Dean Jr.; and two great-grandchildren, Austin Polaski and Audree Buchanan.
He was preceded in death, besides his parents, by a sister and two brothers.
The family will have a private visitation at the Ronald McDonald II Funeral Home, Inc. in Kane.
