August 22, 2014

The Kane Volunteer Fire Department responded to a fire early Friday morning in a garage on Highland Road, Wetmore Township.
Fire Chief Tim Holt said the fire erupted in a 1997 Ford Explorer parked inside a three-stall garage at the John and Sara Halquist residence at 6834 Highland Road, not far from Old Mill Road.
The chief said the firemen "saved" the garage, which measures 48x36 feet. He said the fire destroyed the vehicle. The cause has not been determined, the chief said. The fire was confined to the vehicle, the chief said.
