Discussing the Lantz Corners sewer project Wednesday are, left to right: Patrick McGuire, chairman of the Mt. Jewett Regional Sewer Authority; Jim Trussell, chairman of the Hamlin Township Board of Supervisors and a member of the authority; and Dan Slagle, engineer for the sewer project.
MT. JEWETT-- Hamlin Township is planning to take out a short-term loan to pay its one-time fee of $104,000 for connecting the Lantz Corners Sewer District to the Mt. Jewett system.
Under an agreement adopted more than a decade ago, the township agreed to pay the fee to the Mt. Jewett Regional Sewer Authority before connections are made.
But, in a letter to the authority, sewer project engineer Dan Slagle of Pittsburgh said the "upfront outlay of funds would create a financial hardship to Hamlin Township."
