Myrtle O. Cochran, 103, formerly of Kane, died Monday afternoon, May 20, 2013 at Katy Memorial Hermann Hospital in Katy, Texas. Arrangements, in the care of the Ronald McDonald II Funeral Home, Inc., are incomplete and will be announced.

Harold M. Anderson

Harold M. Anderson, 78, of 6792 Route 321 in East Kane, died Friday morning, May 17, 2013 at his residence following a recent illness.
Born Feb. 15, 1935 in Sergeant, he was the son of Arthur and Mabel Lee Anderson. On Dec. 29, 1966 in Kane, he married Kathylene "Kathy" Mosier, who survives.
Mr. Anderson served in the National Guard and then in the U.S. Navy from 1958 until 1963, when he was transferred to the Navy Reserves. Later, he worked at the Cera-Mag division of Stackpole in Kane for over 38 years, retiring in 1997.

Marguerite Trubic

Marguerite Trubic, 87, of 114 Surf  Dr., Butler, and formerly of Kane, passed away Sunday, May 20, 2013 at Sunny View Nursing Home in Butler.
Born April 5, 1926, in Kane, she was a daughter of  the late Leo and Marguerite McKenna.
Mrs. Trubic resided in Kane for most of her life, living on Biddle Street. Prior to her retirement, she had been employed at Westinghouse.
She was a member of  St. Callistus Catholic Church and belonged to the CD of A Court Callistus #66.

Brian L. Horton

Brian L. Horton, 44, of Park Avenue Ext., Kane, died unexpectedly Saturday afternoon, May 11, 2013 at his residence.
Born October 12, 1968 in Kane, he was the son of Phyllis A. Horton.
Brian had worked at Kane Hardwood.
Surviving are his mother and stepfather, Phyllis and Ronald Fitch of Kane; and two brothers, James M. Horton of Kane and Mark R. Horton of Corry.
Services will be held privately at the family's convenience.  Memorial contributions may be made to a church or charity of the donor's choice.

Viola M. Swedenhjelm

Viola M. Swedenhjelm, 73, of 33 Tionesta Ave., Kane, died Wednesday afternoon, May 8, 2013 at the Kane Community Hospital.
Born Jan. 8, 1940 in Kane, she was the daughter of Harry B. and Helen A. Herron Umpleby. On Aug. 8, 1959 in Kane, she married Lawrence A. Swedenhjelm, who survives.
A member of the First United Methodist Church, Viola worked at Stackpole for many years until its closure, then was a dietary aide at the Residential Care Center, and lastly, at The Lutheran Home at Kane, retiring in 2007.

Mary Rose Maletto

Mary Rose Maletto, age 96, 203 East Ave., Johnsonburg, died Sunday evening, May 5, 2013, at The Lutheran Home at Kane.
She was born March 26, 1916, in Johnsonburg, daughter of the late Pasquale Nocito and Mariannina Perrone Nocito Condina.
On June 17, 1939, in Holy Rosary Church, she married Alfred J. Maletto Jr. who preceded her in death on June 7, 2010.

Kenneth O'Neil Hunt

Kenneth O'Neil Hunt, 80, of Route 321 N, passed away Saturday, May 4, 2013 at his residence.
Born June 11, 1932, in Kane, he was a son of the late Edgar and Violet Ohlson Hunt.
Mr. Hunt was a career serviceman, serving in the U.S. Army where he did tours of duty in both Korea and Vietnam. After his honorable discharge, he worked for Stackpole for several years. He had been a member of the Kane VFW #1132.

Shirley Mae Bradybaugh Chittester

Shirley Mae Bradybaugh Chittester, 83, of 1152 Lime Rd., Townsend, Ga. passed away on April 25, 2013.
She was born in Kane on Aug. 1, 1929, daughter of the late Harry and Pearl (Quick) Bradybaugh. In February of 1950 she married Donald E. Chittester who preceded her in death.
Mrs. Chittester had worked at the Shirt Factory and Houston Electronics and was the manager of the Arlington Hotel in Kane.

Doris E. Swanson

Doris E. Swanson, 89, formerly of the JoJo Road, passed away Tuesday, April 30, 2013 at the Lutheran Home at Kane where she resided.
Born February 10, 1924, at Lantz Corners, she was a daughter of Martin and Mary Gustafson Wahlberg. On March 6, 1947, in Kane, she married Eugene L. Swanson who preceded her in death.
A graduate of the Kane High School class of 1941, Mrs. Swanson worked for the Selective Services (Draft Board) during World War II.  She also worked as a bookkeeper for the former Bentz Furniture for 25 years and had later been employed at the former Kane True Value.
