Eugenia M. "Genie" Thompson, 81, of 420 Park Ave., in Kane died Sunday morning at her residence after a brief illness.
Born Feb. 11, 1930 in Kane, she was the daughter of J. Walter and Natalie Kempf Carlson. On May 12, 1951 in Kane she married Norman L. Thompson, who survives.
After she graduated from Bryant and Stratton College, she worked for the American Red Cross in Harrisburg and later was the office manager for Kane Decorating.
She was a member of Tabor Ev. Lutheran Church in Kane, where she belonged to the Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America - Rebekah Circle, the Altar Guild, and taught Sunday School. She was a Girl Scout leader and member of the Lady Elks Auxiliary.
Surviving, in addition to her husband, are two daughters, Christy Darr and Lori Greto, both of Kane; two sons, David Thompson and Michael Thompson, both of Kane; a sister, Irene Bish of Mt. Jewett; and two brothers, John J. Carlson of Kane and Richard Carlson of Avon Lane, Ohio. Ten grandchildren and three great-grandsons also survive, plus several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death, besides her parents; by a brother, Walter Carlson; and a grandson in infancy, Kyle Andrew Darr.
Friends may call today (Tuesday) at the Ronald McDonald II Funeral Home, Inc. in Kane from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m., and may attend a funeral service at 11 a.m. on Wednesday at Tabor Lutheran Church with the rev. David Pflieger, chaplain of The Lutheran Home at Kane, officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Tabor Cemetery.
