Donald Wayne Olson, 81 of Las Vegas, Nev., passed away on July 18, 2011 from complications of pneumonia.
He was born April 25, 1930, and was the only son of Harold and Mary (Hagey) Olson of Kane, Pennsylvania. Don was a graduate of Kane High School and Willamsport Technical School. Don served in the United States Navy for four years. He retired from Struthers Wells Corporation in Warren after 25 years as a project engineer.
Don enjoyed golf, fishing and hunting with family and friends and was an avid reader and sports enthusiast. His most enjoyable times, however, were simply spent with his family and grandchildren. He was a proud member of the Moose Club and American Legion.
He was a member for many years of the Holy Redeemer Church in Warren and the St. Joseph Husband of Mary Catholic Church in Las Vegas. He was a very kind, loving husband, father and grandfather, and had a very quick sense of humor and loved telling stories.
Don is survived by his wife of 55 years, Frances (Perry) Olson; and their son Donald L. Olson and wife Connie of Wheaton, Ill.; and grandchildren Ryan and Lindsay Olson. His other son James V. Olson and wife Vicki of White Haven and grandchildren Andrei and Maria Olson also survive.
A celebration of his life will be held in a Mass and Memorial Service at a future date. Donations in his name may be made to the American Lung Association or your local Hospice Organization. "Heaven just became an even better place."
