Edward L. Johnson, 89, of 32 Sleepy Hollow Rd., died Saturday, Aug. 6, 2011, at the Lutheran Home at Kane.
Born Oct. 25, 1921, in Sergeant, he was a son of Fred and Nora (Johnson) Johnson. On Dec. 5, 1953, in Kane, he married Patricia Bouch who survives.
Mr. Johnson served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Before his retirement, he was employed by Stackpole.
He was a member of Tabor Evangelical Lutheran Church and enjoyed working in the garden, walking in the woods and polka music. He also played the accordion and several other instruments.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, Patricia, are two sons, Edward Johnson and Kenneth (Rose) Johnson, both of Kane; two daughters, Janice Johnson of North Charleston, S.C. and Amy Johnson of Kane; a grandson, Joshua(Ashley)Komidar of Kane; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Art Johnson, Fred Johnson and Axel Olson; and four sisters, Gladys Gibson, Margaret Johnson, Virginia Pesta and Esther Swedenhjelm.
Friends will be received on Tuesday from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at the Cummings Funeral Home, Inc. where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, with the Rev. David Pflieger, chaplain of the Lutheran Home, officiating. Burial will be at Tabor Cemetery.
