The Photo & Sound Shoppe at 101 Fraley St. in Kane is marking its 33rd anniversary with a 10-day sale that begins today.
Jim Greville, owner of the store that opened in 1978, said this year’s sale is “bigger than usual” in observance of “one third of a century of serving the Kane area.”
Greville said the sale features sale prices “along with daily specials, giveaways and refreshments.”
In June 1978, Greville opened a camera and car stereo store at 21 Fraley St. In June 1981, the store moved to 68 Fraley St. after Greville purchased the former Cardamone Electric business.
The store then became a RadioShack dealer store and 11 years ago this month moved to its present location.
The store features all types of electronics as well as men’s clothing on its two floors of merchandise.
Photo & Sound has a wide selection of cameras, televisions and communications equipment.
“We also have those indispensable items like printer ink, batteries, digital memory and vacuum cleaner bags, belts and parts,” Greville said. “Over the past three years, we have experienced a large growth in the men’s work-wear department that includes flame-resistant clothing by Carhartt and Bulwark.”
